The second son of RNR family – RNK Prasad a famous cameraman and director died on Wednesday evening on account of heart related problems. He was 82 years living in Chennai with his wife Smt Usha Prasad and children Rajiv Prasad and daughter Rathnamala. RNK Prasad son Rajiv Prasad had directed ‘Gautham’ Kannada cinema a few years ago.

He was the first to make many experiments in Kannada with Debriel, Newalla, Mitchell cameras.

RNK Prasad studied in Bengaluru Central College started his career from Premadha Puthri. He was also part of Dr Kamal Hassan film Nayakan, Michael Madhan Kamarajan etc. It was Vijayanagaradha Veeraputra in which father and three sons – RNR, RNJ, RNK and RN Sudarshan worked together. Belli Moda, Mareyadha Hadu, Bale Adrushtavo Adrushta are some of his well known films. He became a director from ‘Naguva Hoovu’.

RNK Prasad was the winner of Life Time Achievement award given in the name of Dr Vishnuvardhana by government of Karnataka in the year 2008-2009.

On 25th of May 2011 this veteran cameraman of Kannada cinema son of doyen of Kannada cinema unforgettable R Nagendra Rao – RNK Prasad was felicitated in a simple and touching function by the Karnataka Cinematographers Association.

RNK Prasad before the felicitation unveiled the portrait of founder of Karnataka Cinematographers Association DV Rajaram and recalled his long association with ancient cameras. RNK Prasad remembered how the camera was very essential and how he worked without looking at the fame and money.
